This virtual reality piece starts from digitizing physical digital prints in the series also named Untitled(Disappearing). By transforming 2D images into an immersive experience, the district under gentrification policy in Changsha, China becomes digital. From layering and reprinting prints to constructing a virtual space, 2D images become dimensional while physical objects becomes virtual. The physical space is captured by camera, manipulated by artist, and reconstructed in a new virtual space with the integration of traces of the past. This process is deterritorialization / reterritorialization, which makes linearity of history and correlation between different man-made policies collapse. The gesture of resurfacing reconnects the two different time periods at the same location.
